THE ONE-ACT PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields

UVA Department of Drama's Students Producing Theatre Presents
THE ONE-ACT PLAY THAT GOES WRONG: Chaos, Comedy, and Catastrophe Take the Stage

The University of Virginia Drama Department’s Students Producing Theatre (SPT) class proudly presents The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields.  The production will be performed on May 1st, 2026, at 6:30 pm in the Helms Theatre, UVA Drama Building.

This fast-paced comedy follows a determined but disastrously unlucky theatre troupe as they attempt to stage a classic murder mystery, only for everything that can go wrong to go spectacularly wrong. From collapsing sets to forgotten lines and misplaced props, the production quickly spirals into hilarious chaos, leaving both the performers and the audience scrambling to keep up.

Originally created by Mischief Theatre, the show is described by the playwrights as “an accident waiting to happen,” inviting audiences to experience the joy that comes from watching a production unravel in the most unexpected and outrageous ways. The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong celebrates the unpredictability of live theatre, blending physical comedy, sharp timing, and nonstop mishaps into an unforgettable experience.

Admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage audience members to arrive early. Tickets do not need to be purchased. The performance is free.
