Director of Production
The University of Virginia’s Department of Drama and Virginia Theatre Festival seek applicants for the position of Director of Production. This 12-month staff position reports to the Chair of the Drama Department and supervises 8 full-time production staff as well as 25+ seasonal positions. Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing all aspects of the technical theatrical elements for both Drama’s academic-year performances and VTF’s summer season. This will include oversight of scenic, properties, costumes, lighting, sound, and stage management and direct supervision of the staff supporting each area.
This position is a full-time, exempt-level, benefitted position with the University of Virginia, located in Charlottesville, VA. The anticipated salary range is $90,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Assistant, Associate or Professor of Drama Performance
The University of Virginia’s Department of Drama and Dance Program invites applications for an open rank tenure-track or tenured position expected to begin August 10, 2025. We seek an interdisciplinary artist-scholar in performance, with a developing or an established record of creative work and scholarship in one or more of the following areas:
- Performance and social change
- Devised performance
- Community-based and site-specific performance
- Culturally responsive performance
- Performance utilizing online networks, AI, augmented reality, or other digital platforms
Of particular interest are candidates whose practice includes both creative work and published scholarship. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to creative practices in performance traditions of the Global South, Global Majority, and queer/trans communities, alongside practical experience of anti-racist, decolonizing, and/or culturally responsive teaching and performance are encouraged to apply.

Props Supervisor and Artisan
The University of Virginia's Department of Drama seeks applicants for the position of Props Supervisor and Artisan. This 12-month position reports to the Technical Director and supervises budgeting, procurement, and construction of properties, furniture, and scenic elements. The Props Supervisor and Artisan will collaborate on academic-year performances and the summer season of the Virginia Theatre Festival.
A Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in technical theatre are required.
The expected salary is $28.00 - $29.00 hourly (annualized $58,000 - $60,000) commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a non-exempt, benefitted position.
