The Virginia Players present The Vagina Monologues, by V, in collaboration with Spectrum Theatre for the semesterly Lab Series program. Lab Series offers student directors, student playwrights, and often both, the opportunity to develop a piece of their own or of their choosing into a fully realized stage production.

From 2008 to 2016, the Virginia Players and Spectrum Theatre played their parts in producing annual productions of The Vagina Monologues with engaged young feminists at UVA. This production seeks to revive this feminist theatre tradition and its asociated reaising of awareness and funds to combat sexual violence. In picking up this baton, the show aims to reflect the weight of a decade-long hiatus, illustrating timelessness and timeliness of radical disclosure in an increasingly digital era.

Content Warnings: This production contains mature language and sexually explicit material including graphic, detailed discussion of sexual assault, abuse, and rape, including of minors; domestic and physical violence; suicide and suicidal ideation; and transphobia.

Approximate Runtime: 90 minutes
