Biography
Karim Chebli (he/him) was born and raised in Lebanon, on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Initially a business graduate, Karim transitioned into humanitarian work and education, beginning with his role as a teaching fellow with Teach for Lebanon, part of the global Teach for All Network. During his fellowship, he discovered the transformative power of integrating theatre into education, which inspired him to further his studies.

Karim went on to earn a BA in Theater from the Lebanese University and a master’s degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies from the American University of Beirut in 2020. His thesis centered on developing pedagogic content knowledge for theater educators. Alongside his academic pursuits, Karim gained experience in the performing arts, taking on roles in local and regional Arabic productions and collaborating with prominent theater and television directors.

In 2022, he expanded his academic and professional horizons by joining the University of Pittsburgh as a teaching assistant while pursuing an MFA in Performance Pedagogy. His research focused on utilizing ethnotheater and devising techniques to teach history. Despite his commitments in the United States, Karim remained active in the Lebanese theater scene, where he continues to work as a playwright, actor, director, and producer.

His recent works include “Maamoul” and “In the Blink of an Eye,” staged in Beirut and Dubai, as well as "Cheating Fate," which premiered at the Hillman Theatre in Pittsburgh, marking his debut as an English-language playwright.
